Mid-States Aluminum and Community Leaders Celebrate Groundbreaking of Facility Expansion and New Press Line

Fond du Lac, Wis. – August 2, 2018 – On July 31, 2018, Mid-States Aluminum formally broke ground for a facility expansion and new press line at its extrusion and fabrication facility in Fond du Lac.  Fond du Lac County Executive, Allen Buechel, City of Fond du Lac Community Development Director, Dyann Benson, and Envision Greater Fond du Lac Vice President of Economic Development, M. Scott Powell joined Mid-States in marking the start of the construction project that will create 39 new jobs and invest $23 million in the local community.

Mid-States’ President and CEO, James Spannbauer, initiated the event by thanking community leaders for their support of economic development in Fond du Lac and this project.  “Allan Buechel, our County Executive, and Marty Farrell, President of the County Board, as well as Dyann Benson and Joe Moore from the City of Fond du Lac, have been extremely supportive in our reinvestment in Fond du Lac county,” said Spannbauer.

“Mid-States specifically selected local contractors for the expansion project to keep jobs in the Fond du Lac area and support the local community,” explained Spannbauer as he cited local businesses, CD Smith, JF Ahern, Kranig Excavating, Lease Electric and Excel Engineering among other business partners.

The $23 million investment in facility and equipment is being used to purchase a new state-of-the-art extrusion press line and automation equipment that will upgrade the facility and maintain its competitive advantage in the market for aluminum extrusions and value-added components.

Mid-States provides extruded aluminum products and tightly-toleranced machined components to the electrical and electronics, medical, industrial equipment, agriculture, automotive and building and construction industries in the Midwest and globally.

The facility expansion will be completed by the end of 2018 with the new equipment fully operational by mid-2019.  “These are exciting times for Mid-States Aluminum and our 300 hardworking associates as we create new manufacturing jobs and support the Fond du Lac community,” stated Spannbauer.
